New Generation Investing - strategies for an uncertain world

Investing against a background of persistently low interest rates presents new challenges, especially for people looking for long-term income. We start this session by reviewing investment theory to get a core understanding of how markets operate. We consider the role of diversification in managing portfolio risk and the impact of investor psychology on portfolio returns. We wrap up this section by considering persistent anomalies that appear to contradict the theory.

The session concludes with a discussion around future investment direction, drawing on our research into long-term socio-economic trends such as the rise of robotics; the changing nature of work; the effects of an aging population and the continuing demand for scarce resources and their implication for long-term investing.

The masterclass is likely to be interesting to investors at all stages but particularly those at or approaching retirement.

Behavioural Insights & Financial Wellbeing

5 December 2018

Too often measures to improve financial wellbeing are focused solely on the over-indebted and go little beyond restructuring their debt. This approach addresses the immediate problem but does nothing to change the underlying spending behaviours. In this session we propose an alternative tripartite approach that uses insights from behavioural economics to improve wellbeing by reducing financial anxiety.

What people have to say about previous events....

I cannot recommend Chadwick’s Masterclasses too highly nor say enough good things about them. Chadwick’s Masterclasses provide fresh insights and offer practical steps to build, maintain and retain value in businesses. Richard delivers clear and well-thought-out advice while challenging preconceptions. The workshops are thoroughly researched and never turn into sales presentations. I learn something every time I attend.

Chadwick’s Masterclasses are one of the highlights in my calendar. Clearly, a great deal of thought and preparation goes into them, which results in useful and up-to-date information that helps me plan my personal money matters, develop my business and think more clearly about what to do next in this ever-changing world. I strongly recommend them to anyone looking to improve the management of their finances.
